Nutrition Challenge #1

OK folks, here's your first nutrition challenge. If you want to understand the reasoning behind my madness here, do some digging for yourself. Look up:

Paleo Diet
Primal Blueprint
Robb Wolff

The basic idea is that the human body did not evolve to eat grains, or processed sugar(lots of carbohydrate). When we do, we get fat, and our metabolism suffers. We did evolve to eat meats and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, and a little starch. So, your first challenge is going to be super easy.

Your breakfast tomorrow is going to be:
Eggs and bacon(or ham), ONLY

You can eat as much as you want, but those are your ingredients. Nothing else. If you don't eat meat, have more eggs. :) If you don't eat ham, substitute some other meat. Remember though:
No bread
No cheese
No fruit or vegetables
etc.

This is a fairly fatty meal. This is intentional. Fat is good for you, IF you control carbohydrate intake.

Here's the challenge part. Eat your fill, then look at the clock. A few hours later, when you get hungry, look at the clock again. Post both times to comments.

If you like this video, this is part 1 of 4. Enjoy :)

WOD 7/29/2011

Sorry for the late post, I just got home from a gig and I'm eating dinner as I write this.

Yes, that means I'm eating dinner at 2am. Life is good.

Your first nutrition challenge will be posted on Friday, so you can do it on Saturday and post results.

OK, here it comes:

Warmups with static holds, followed by 3 sets of 10 pushups and squat therapy.

Workout:
4 Rounds for time of 400m Run

Each round starts 90 seconds after the last person crosses the line. It pays to be fast :)

Proper form on the air squat:

WELCOME!!! (and welcome back!)

Well,

The sun's nice and strong, school's out, and band camp is just around the corner. We all know what that means:

SUMMER WORKOUTS WITH MR. LEMLEY

:)

So tell your band friends(and your non-band friends) and lets get started. This year I'm going to add some nutritional challenges to go along with the exercise challenges, but we'll get to that later. First things first.

Our schedule will be MWF 9am-10am, rain or shine. There will be a couple days when I won't be available, but when that happens I'll post home workouts for you to do.

Just to kick things off, we'll start the same way we did last year. Here's a copy of last year's first wod(workout of the day):

This blog is intended for the participants of the summer strength and conditioning program for the Herndon High School Band. Please post any impressions you have of your experience this summer.

Each post will contain some info regarding the day's workout, perhaps some advice, or a video link that might help with your performance.

WOD 6/27/2012

3 Rounds for time:
Run 400m
10 pushups
15 squats

Post time(and style of pushups) to comments

We will repeat this workout at our last summer session, for comparison.

Pushups(makes you wish you lived in California):
